The Mandaean community in Australia has experienced significant change throughout the years since the first settlement in Australia in 1981.

It is known that there is around 5,000 Mandaean members in Australia in which majority live in the South Western regions of Sydney. This number is currently experiencing growth as more Mandaean members are migrating to Australia. The first settlement of the Mandaean community in Australia saw a new religion being introduced, however as they were such as small minority and such an old religion, there was nothing in Australia that allowed them to practice their religion. Slowly the Mandaean community began to build areas in which they were able to practice their religion and their sacred tradition of Baptism and began to build churched (Mendi), however due to the small number of Mandaean members in Australia, there are only 5 Mendi's in Australia. Since the settlement of the Mandaean community in Australia, the religion and community has slowly been forgotten as marriages between different religions has seen numbers of Mandaean members convert out of the religion, the development of technology has allowed for teaching traditions to be lost and altered, the Mandaean youth have lost the culture through materialistic development.
